For a long time, most analytic philosophers held that the history of philosophy had little to do with doing philosophy. Peter has a lovely clear voice, knows how to put together history and philosophical commentary, tells plenty of amusing anecdotes, and has a great selection of guest speakers who can talk in depth about particular topics. Read Julian Baggini's review of A Little History of Philosophy. Expressivism, the conseqentialism/deontology divide, particularism, moral semantics, the wrong kind of reason, pragmatic encroachment, truth, epistemic expressions, and a little about the history of moral philosophy. If I buy 4 books now, I also get A Little History of Philosophy too. But Middle Ages are coming up: so we could expect a change. I've been using the podcasts for my teaching – even I find it much easier to get Perhaps it is time to imbue a little significance into female philosophers of the antiquity. A Little History of Philosophy, Nigel Warburton's latest book, is now available in the UK. He is the main interviewer for the Philosophy Bites podcast (www.philosophybites.com) which he makes with David Edmonds. This is better than the original renwal, but the three sets are not the ones I was hoping for.
